Wonderful news has emerged from Hanoi in Vietnam. They have declared they are going to be a dog meat free city and work towards this end over the next three years.

This is a huge step forward in Vietnam and for the Vietnamese friends and activists we have assisted over the years.

Sadly though, our wonderful friend Wayne Capriotti who did so much to help animals in Vietnam has died and never got to hear the good news that he played a part in.

A Canadian born activist and pet lover who started Vietnam’s first and only pet magazine ‘Me Thu Chung’, he also became a consultant to the pet industry.  He also worked with our CEO Julia to put in place the Unreported World Documentary about the dog meat trade in Vietnam.

When Wayne found out our charity were special consultants to the UN, he wanted to be involved in this and was going to be a special envoy for us, to attend the UN Meetings. We are sad he never got to attend, but we are still proud and honoured to have known and worked with him.

NoToDogMet also have a twitter campaign where we contact Vietnamese Officials and UNDP staff in Vietnam, asking for their help which everyone on this page can be involved in. Twitter is effective because it allows direct contact with pressing issues.

We will keep pushing until the whole of Vietnam is dog meat and cat meat free.

We also continue to work with a Vietnam Newspaper and we will continue to spread the word through our friends there.
